Charity Partner ASB
CHARITY PROJECT “ASB-WÜNSCHEWAGEN”

42.195 kilometers with a view of the skyline of the banking metropolis of Frankfurt at Germany’s oldest city marathon: for many runners, this is a great wish come true. Crossing the finish line on the red carpet in the Festhalle is overwhelming and a memory that will last forever. The aim of the ASB-Wünschwagen is to fulfill a heartfelt wish for people in their last phase of life. The wishes are as various as the people who hold them. ASB Hessen makes these wishes come true. People who only have a little time left can reach the places they long for: One more trip to the stadium, one more trip to their granddaughter’s wedding, one more trip to a concert – shared memories included. More than 40 volunteers are involved in fulfilling wishes for the Rhine-Main “Wünschwagen”. The project is funded entirely by donations. The ride on the “Wünschewagen” is free of charge for the passenger and one accompanying person. Donations help to cover travel costs to the desired locations, training for volunteers, uniforms or the purchase and equipping of the “Wünschewagen”-vehicle.

MAINOVA FRANKFURT MARATHON RAISES OVER 105,000 EUROS

The cooperation between the Mainova Frankfurt Marathon and ASB Landesverband Hessen e. V. as a charity partner has been established in 2017 – in the anniversary year 2023 it was the charity’s seventh year. On the occasion of the 40th anniversary of the Mainova Frankfurt Marathon, the marathon organizer and the Arbeiter-Samariter-Bund Landesverband Hessen e.V. had set themselves a major goal: The “Mission 100,000”. In recent years, the Mainova Frankfurt Marathon has been able to generate donations of over 80,000 euros for the Rhine-Main “Wünschewagen” from marathon participants. With the anniversary event on the last weekend of October 2023, the 100,000 euro mark was broken thanks to a variety of donation opportunities and the best donation result since the partnership was established. It was fantastic for us to see that our ambitious fundraising target was accepted and, thanks to the great generosity of our participants, was not only achieved but even significantly beaten. This shows the integrative power of sport in our society. The largest share of the donation amount was raised because numerous runners cross the large donation gate, which is located at kilometers 7.5 and 39, year after year and thus donate 4 euros per run.

Anyone wishing to support the charity project of the Mainova Frankfurt Marathon can continue to do so in various ways so that as many wishes as possible can continue to be fulfilled.
